In 2030, a massive worldwide data breach exposed the data and information of every human on the planet. This Great Data Breach devastated the course of human history and fractured the United States into two different countries - communities who opted into continued use of technology and data collection, and communities who opted out. As a result of The Great Data Breach and its implication on mental health, millions suffered. The chaos and widespread loss of ones' livelihood, security and identity, wiped out half the world's population during a catastrophic time known as The Purpose Crisis.
Fifty years later, in 2080, Commodore is a young man living in the Freedom Territory of Moran, Wyoming. He and his family are pillars in the community, key members responsible for its safety and provisions. While Commodore takes pride in his role, his heart longs to be an influencer in another world, one that is hyper connected by technology and governed by artificial intelligence.
Iqra, a young woman from the Progress City of Minneapolis, journeys to the Freedom Territory with a warning: Human AI governance (HAI) has launched a secret plan called The Memory Project to involuntarily reprogram human memories.
The Freedom Territory plans their response which sends Commodore and Iqra on a voyage to stop the Memory Project. During their travels, they compare the two bifurcated societies and explore the history of mankind.
Back in Wyoming, Commodore’s best friend James attempts to go back in time using conversational time travel. He leads a team on a seemingly insurmountable mission to prevent the Great Data Breach and, perhaps even more difficult, to find his long-lost father.
Will they be able to stop the Great Data Breach and HAI before it’s too late?
